At Trinity, we believe that security is a shared responsibility, and fostering a culture of awareness and education is key to keeping our community safe. Protecting the College’s data, systems, and digital environment begins with each individual understanding their role in maintaining security and adopting best practices.

We are committed to providing resources and training that empower every community member—from students and faculty to staff and administrators—to recognize and mitigate potential security risks. Through regular educational campaigns, workshops, and seminars, we help everyone understand how to protect sensitive information and stay safe online. Our team regularly offers guidance on the importance of strong password practices, phishing awareness, data protection, and secure internet usage. We encourage proactive behaviors, such as regularly updating passwords, recognizing suspicious emails, and securely handling personal and institutional data. By emphasizing these everyday security habits, we aim to strengthen the collective resilience of our community.

We work closely with various campus departments to ensure that security awareness is integrated into everyday activities. Collaboration with Accounting Services helps raise awareness about compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS), and we actively support other departments in implementing security best practices.

As the digital world evolves, so do the threats we face. Our community’s education on cybersecurity is ongoing. We regularly update training materials to address emerging threats, ensuring everyone has the latest knowledge to respond to new challenges. By fostering a mindset of continuous learning and vigilance, we prepare our community to handle evolving security risks with confidence and agility.

Security awareness is not just a top-down initiative; it’s a community-wide effort. Through targeted communication, we help individuals understand how their actions—whether on personal devices or campus systems—can impact overall security. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels empowered to take responsibility for their security and the security of the larger Trinity community. Educating our campus on security vulnerabilities is a key priority. National Cybersecurity Awareness Month offers a fun, hands-on platform to engage the community with practical steps for protecting personal and institutional data. Additionally, implementing KnowBe4, a security awareness and training platform, will further enhance our efforts to educate faculty, staff, and students on cybersecurity best practices.

Our endpoint management policy ensures faculty and staff have secure, high-performing devices, with regular upgrades every five years to meet evolving security needs. We’re also working to expand KnowBe4 to students, increasing awareness through training and social media outreach focused on protecting against phishing and cyberattacks. We’re expanding third-party vendor reviews to mitigate rising cyber risks and embedding security and accessibility checks into our procurement processes. This ensures new technologies align with our security standards and help reduce potential vulnerabilities.
